THE MEADS OF ASPHODEL Split With Founding Member, Prepare To Record New CD
December 9, 2002British black metallers THE MEADS OF ASPHODEL have parted ways with founding member Jaldaboath (guitar, synth) and have announced the addition of bassist Deorth and guitarist/keyboardist Azrael to the group's ranks.
According to an official statement from the group, THE MEADS OF ASPHODEL "has parted company with Jaldaboath after a conflict of direction. [Mainman] Metatron has made it clear the band will not alter its Black Metal path and feels the roots of the band to be more important than any acceptance to a wider audience. This stance has forced Jaldaboath to seek his musical path beyond the musical theme of the bands recent 'Jihad' MCD split with MAYHEM.
"Metatron had always envisaged the second MEADS album to be a more violent and cold release as opposed to the more accessible nature of the material on 'Jihad'. The band wish Jaldaboath the very best in his future endeavors and all existing MEADS material will now be created with new members, Deorth [bass], Azrael [guitars/ keyboards] and long time member Urakbaramel [drums].
"The bands second opus 'Exhuming the Grave of Yeshua' will be recorded in February and will feature the following guests: Mirai [SIGH], Vincent Crowley [ACHERON], Huw Lloyd Langton [HAWKWIND], Paul C [THUS DEFILED] and other dark souls to be confirmed. The album will contain the raw essence of the demos and the first album and continue to perplex the minds of all that succumb to its aural confusion."
